小巨人助力宁夏扶贫与环境改造中心开展扶贫助学Little Giant helps Ningxia Poverty Alleviation and Environmental Rehabilitatio

宁夏扶贫与环境改造中心（以下简称“中心”）是一个活跃在中国西部最贫困、自然资源最恶劣地区的非政府组织，中心以帮助和支持穷人、改造环境为使命。自1998年成立以来，中心将参与式方法引入西北贫困地区，进行了荒漠化土地整治技术的进一步开发，开展了以社区综合发展为核心的社区建设活动，启动和执行了以妇女为主的小额信贷项目，实施了以提高妇女能力为主的能力建设项目、失学儿童重返校园项目以及其他一些区域农村综合发展项目。

2007年10月17日，中心策划一场公益慈善晚会，得到了宁夏小巨人机床公司的大力赞助。晚会帮助双方更加深入的了解对方，小巨人公司开始在扶贫助学方面与中心开展合作，从2008年开始至今，在小巨人公司党委和团委的倡导下，该公司员工每年结对资助由中心推荐的贫困学生150名，中心每年两次向小巨人员工提供他们所资助的学生的回访资料及资助款花销情况的材料。双方每年还会协调组织一次为贫困学生的募捐活动和项目总结活动。

中心和小巨人公司在合作的过程中，建立起了完善的沟通渠道，双方都有专门的人负责合作事宜，与小巨人员工们的正式沟通交流一般是一年一次，公司合作代表有问题可以随时沟通交流。员工们有关于资助学生的问题也可以随时和中心交流，或者随时给中心提供建议。

中心办公室主任刘耀辉说：“作为非政府组织，做好自己的工作是和企业合作的基础，而在寻找合作伙伴时，实现双赢是关键，这样合作双方都能很好的参与其中。”

The Ningxia Poverty Alleviation and Environmental Rehabilitation Center (referred to as “the Center” from this point on) is an NGO that is active in the poorest region of western China, where NGOs have the worst natural resources. In order to help assist and support poor people, the Center’s mission is to transform the environment. Since its inception in 1998, the Center has introduced participatory methods to the poor regions in the Northwest, advancing desertification control and developing land remediation technology one step further. It has developed an integrated community as a result of core community building activities, launched and implemented a small credit project and a capacity building project for the empowerment of women, a program to encourage underprivileged children to return to school, as well as other comprehensive regional rural development projects.
On October 17, 2007, the Center planned a public charity gala and obtained sponsorship from the Ningxia Little Giant Machine Tool Company. The gala helped both sides better understand each other. The Little Giant Company and the Center began to cooperate in many aspects of poverty alleviation. From 2008 to the present, as proposed by the Party and the Youth League of the Little Giant Company, every year the company’s employees should provide financial aid to 150 impoverished students who are recommended by the Center. Twice a year, the Center provides Little Giant employees with information about the students they funded and their spending situation. Both sides will coordinate annually to organize a fundraising and outcome-reporting event for the impoverished students.
The Center and the Little Giant Company, in the process of cooperation, have established perfect communication channels. Both sides have a dedicated person responsible for collaboration. Little Giant employees usually have a formal meeting once a year, but if any company collaboration representatives have an issue, they can communicate with each other at any time. If the employees have issues concerning providing financial aid to students, they can also at any time contact the Center or provide advice to them.
The Center Director, Yao-Hui Liu, said, “As an NGO, doing good work is the foundation to collaborate with companies. While looking for cooperative partners, achieving a win-win situation is crucial. This kind of collaboration allows both sides to participate fully.”
